“CAMPING SKILLS”

Primary Resources Camping

All the fun of camping – on your school site!

Outdoors, 1 hour

It’s official – camping is definitely fun!! And you don’t need to spend nights off-site for your children to get a flavour of the great outdoors.

A “Camping Skills” activity session provides a wealth of problem solving activities which really get children communicating and working together.

Sessions could start with a discussion of what what we would pack in our rucksack and, equally importantly, what we would leave behind!

Then move on to what would make a good site to pitch our tents.

Getting hands-on, lets try putting some tents up! How do you get that big sleeping bag back into its tiny container?

Session content can be tailored to be suitable for any age.  All equipment is provided – I bring along lots of camping kit for children to look at and find out how to use.

“Camping skills” activity sessions combine fantastically well with “map skills” and mini-orienteering sessions to give a whole range of outdoor experiences. Or put them together with a sessions on the Arctic, Africa, Jungles  or Mountains to really build on an “exploration” theme.
