Use a map to really explore your school!

Orienteering is fantastic fun and an activity with which children of all ages truly engage. It’s a great way of learning how to really use a map to find your way around. Orienteering sessions can be held at any time of the year, are not dependent on the weather, and are a great way of getting children to buy into outdoor learning in a familiar setting.

And you don’t have to travel to an outdoor centre (with the associated cost and logistical burden) to give your children the opportunity to experience orienteering – I can produce a simple hand-made map of your school and lay out a challenging orienteering course suitable for use with any age group on your field or playground.

Learn how to read a map, relate it to the world around you, and how to navigate – all useful life skills – and have fun outdoors!
